The Dominican Healthcare Ministry has published a short pamphlet, called Life is Changed, Not Ended, intended to help Catholics consider their eternal end and make adequate preparations for their own death.

This publication distills the experience and knowledge of the Dominican Friars who work full time in the hospitals, where caring for the dying is the most significant part of our daily ministry. In our work we’ve seen how some patients and their families are well prepared to face death with faith and confidence, which does not make the time easy but does fill it with grace. We have also seen the ways in which patients and families are unprepared, and how that can make peace in sorrow more difficult.

We’ve published this pamphlet as an introduction and guide to help Catholics consider these questions now, before they find themselves unconscious in a hospital bed, and we are confident that by remembering our eternal destiny God will give us peace here and now.

Life is Changed, Not Ended is available as a tri-fold pamphlet at the Church of St. Catherine and the Church of St. Vincent Ferrer, and has been distributed to the Dominican parishes of the Province of St. Joseph.
